MEETING OUTLINE AND TRAINING SCHEDUAL 2009

 

January 22, 2009:        Presentation of our “Member of the Year”, “Most Improved” and, “Most Dedicated” members. WinLink 2000 / Airmail.  This will be hands on presentation of how to set up and use Airmail via the internet and RF.  Bring your laptop if you have one.    

February 26, 2009:      We will conduct a Table Top exercise built on a call out protocol.  Come prepared to have fun in a safe environment while learning just how much you need to think about.  This will be a long class so be prepared to stay till 10:00 PM.

 March 26, 2009:          ICS training… interactive… entertaining… and useful!

April 23, 2009:            Jump kits!!  A suggested list of items will be sent to you to fill your jump kits.  You will bring those items and a container or suitable storage bag to the meeting.  We will assemble the kits during the meeting.  No excuse to not have one will be accepted.  IF you already have a kit, be expected to bring it to the meeting and empty and review its contents. 

May 28, 2009:             Emergency power and grounding field stations.  We will cover batteries to generators and how to get that power to the radio safely.

June 25, 2009:             Field Day… This won’t be your normal FD!  This year there will be classes on Saturday the 27th covering map reading and field antenna building.  Plan on a full day!  And plan on being challenged on finding the location.

July 25, 2009:              Did you notice the date?  Plan for a full day in the field.  This is the inaugural start of the annual “EC challenge”.  Your day will start with a call out at 08:00.  You will get fed at 12:00 and you might be home by sunset!

 August 27, 2009:        Building VHF/UHF/HF antennas and masts for field use.  Some hands on work and a lot of guidance to make the best of a not so good location.

 September 24, 2009:   Introduction and start of the EMCOM I class with graduation at the October meeting

October 22, 2009:       Table top exercise dealing with tactical communications and security for events such as ham fests.

 November 26, 2009:   Time to learn how to field program that HT or mobile!  Bring your radios with you!
